I think the thing I struggled most in my spiritual journey is remaining grounded. Because I was so open and receptive to different energies, I was also easily moved and influenced by them as well. Nowadays, I am a lot more grounded, mostly because I made a conscious effort to be so. Groundedness means connecting with the earth element, learning to say no, and knowing when I want to limit my psychic abilities. In the end, I am the one who is in control, not my psychic senses. I am the boss of my own power. My power does not control me; I control it.
Staying grounded isn’t necessarily a technique, but a way of being. It’s remaining healthily skeptical instead of naively accepting everything. It’s taking good care of my physical, emotional, and spiritual health. I think I can go farther and higher when I’m grounded, since I would have a stable enough basis. When I’m grounded, I’m in control; I can direct my mind to specific psychic abilities and shut extraneous information out. At first, I thought this was limiting, but in the end, this was what enables me to go far.
A simple grounding exercise is to focus the attention on the root energy center, and to breathe in and out deeply ten times. This reverses the usual up flow of energy rising to the crown, and instead bases it in the physical body and function.
